Here's a little piece of wholesome news for your Wednesday evening. Ben Affleck is currently shooting THE LAST DUEL with Matt Damon and Adam Driver, a historical drama directed by Ridley Scott which is set in 14th century France and follows two knights whose bond is tested by treachery. While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Ben Affleck spoke about his son's recent birthday and how Adam Driver went above and beyond to make it very special.

Like many eight-year-olds, Ben Affleck's son is a massive STAR WARS fan. "My son knows that I do movies that are kind of fake and his mom does movies and that’s all pretend, but he also knows that Star Wars is real," Affleck said. "There’s guys out there fighting the Emperor and that job needs to get done. I can do my fake bullshit, and some people can do an important job." Needless to say, Affleck's son was more than a little impressed when his dad told him that he was shooting a movie with Kylo Ren, and Affleck asked Driver if he could record a quick birthday message to take back to America with him. With a birthday greeting from none other than Kylo Ren himself, Affleck caught a plane back home for his son's birthday, but unfortunately, his son's gifts didn't make the trip. Adam Driver to the rescue.

I had to show up to my son’s party with no gift for him. It was like this sort of sinking, awful feeling. And then [Affleck's employee] goes, ‘But, Adam heard you say it was your son’s birthday, and so he called your assistant, got your address, sent some presents and signed a card and picture from Kylo Ren. And I took those presents, went to that surprise party, watched him open all his other presents. I said, ‘Sam, my presents didn’t get here in time, but I did get a present from someone who really wanted to make sure you had a gift.' And he was like, 'Who?' And I said, 'Kylo Ren.'…I played him a video of Kylo Ren. It was an incredibly moving and powerful moment. Like, Adam made me a hero to my kid and I will never, ever, ever forget it.

Affleck added that what Adam Driver did "meant the f**king world to me." You're a good dude, Adam Driver. THE LAST DUEL is set for a limited-release on December 25, 2020, before expanding wide on January 8, 2021. Adam Driver was recently seen in STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, while Ben Affleck will next be seen in THE WAY BACK, which opens in theaters on March 6th.
