Believe in curses, demons and monsters in this first teaser for Showtime’s Penny Dreadful

We've been keeping up with news regarding the upcoming Showtime series "Penny Dreadful", bringing you some exciting casting news as Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Billie Piper and more have all signed on to the supernatural/psychosexual horror series over the past few weeks. Yep, it sounds as if we're in for a real surprise with "Penny Dreadful".

Speaking of dreadful, did you catch the series finale of "Dexter" last night? Thankfully that show is at an end (hey, I used to love it, but I feel it ran about 3 seasons too long), and Showtime used last nights finale to promote "Penny Dreadful" by giving us the teaser below.

The series draws from famous works of literature, posing that some of the most terrifying protagonists — Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, Dracula’s Van Helsing and more — come together in Victorian London.

"Penny Dreadful" was written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan and executive produced by Logan's Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes and Neal Street's Pippa Harris. The Show will have 8 episodes and will start shooting this fall in London and will air in 2014.
