Acclaimed actor, writer, director, and facial hair aficionado, Kenneth Branagh, will bring his latest masterpiece to screens this November. While it is unclear if Branagh will rock a mustache as epic as he sported in Murder on the Orient Express, his impressive follicle abilities will surely be on display during the press tour for Belfast, his period drama scheduled to debut November 12th.
Written and directed by Branagh, the film stars Caitriona Balfe, Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds, and newcomer Jude Hill. The story tells of one boy’s childhood during the tumult of the late 1960s. Dornan and Balfe star as a posh working-class couple caught up in the pandemonium, while Dench and Hinds portray the sardonic and spritely grandparents.
Focus Features, who acquired the rights to Belfast last year, will distribute the movie domestically. Meanwhile, Universal Pictures will oversee international distribution.
“It’s about coming home — a dramatic journey of excitement, emotion, and humor,” Branagh says.
In addition to Belfast, Branagh's Death on the Nile is complete and is charting a course for theaters on September 12, 2021. Based on the Agatha Christie novel, Death on the Nile follows renowned Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, who while on vacation, must investigate the murder of a young heiress. The film stars Branagh as Hercule Poirot; Tom Bateman as Bouc; Armie Hammer as Simon Doyle; Gal Gadot as Linnet Ridgeway Doyle; Rose Leslie as Louise; Emma Mackey as Jacqueline de Bellefort; Annett Benning as Euphemia; Salome Otterbourne; Letitia Wright as Rosalie Otterbourne; Jennifer Saunders as Marie Van Schuyler; Dawn French as Mrs. Bowers; Russell Brand as Dr. Bessner; Adam Garcia as Syd; Rick Warden as Monsieur Blondin; and Ali Fazal as Andrew Katchadourian.
