Behold the very eccentric looking Elizabeth Banks as Effie in one of two new Hunger Games stills

Hot off the heels of the trailer premiere, a couple of new stills for THE HUNGER GAMES have surfaced.

The one above gives us a better look at Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket. Her appearance in the trailer left a lot of fans a bit stunned, I gather her character wasn’t really written in that exact way? It is funny though, those same fans had said they pictured Banks in the role, I guess we shall see in due time how it plays out.

Banks spoke to People Magazine, with a HUNGER GAMES issue out tomorrow about the character. Here are some highlights: “Effie is a very complicated woman, she’s a spinner. She spins everything into something positive. These kids have been pulled from their loved ones to compete on television in this horrible event in which they will likely lose their lives.”

She also noted that the biggest challenge for her with playing Effie was the shoes! “All of my shoes in the movie are completely amazing but highly uncomfortable. I said to Gary, ‘You better be shooting these shoes, because they’re killing me.’ “ Ok now I want to revisit the trailer and see if her shoes were shown!

Elizabeth Banks stars along side Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth, who can be seen below in the other new still. Other cast members include Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Amandla Stenberg, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jacqueline Emerson, Paula Malcomson, Dayo Okeniyi, Jack Quaid, Leven Rambin, Willow Shields and Lenny Kravitz.
