Ready for your first look at Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug from THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG? I guess it's really more of a half first look since these images are of the actor doing motion-capture work for the film. The Extended Edition of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is available for download on iTunes, and it includes behind the scenes footage of Cumberbatch in action as Smaug. A Flickr user uploaded several screenshots of the footage, and now for your viewing pleasure I present to you Benedict Cumberbatch's pissed off dragon face.
A dragon with Benedict Cumberbatch's voice is scary, but one that also has some of his facial features? That's just f*cking terrifying. I'm glad that so far there hasn't been a full reveal of Smaug, and honestly I hope there isn't one before the film hits theaters.
THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG also stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom, Richard Armitage, Luke Evans, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Lee Pace, Christopher Lee, Andy Serkis, and Billy Connelly, and will be released on December 13th, 2013.
