LIFE – about overly-pretty astronauts finding an alien life form that wants to kill them – seems to be the plot synopsis of a direct-to-VHS film starring Casper Van Dien and Michael Dudikoff that'd collect dust on the wall of a Blockbuster, right? Am I crazy? But that's the beauty of the film, I think. It has a goofy and cliche sci-fi/horror plot, but has managed to collect some grade-A talent in the form of Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Rebecca Ferguson, not to mention DEADPOOL and ZOMBIELAND screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. So there might actually be something to it.
Possibly sensing some audience apprehension, the studio has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette to show off the film. Let's take a look:
I like that it seems to be trying to take the idea of how we would handle the first discovery of alien life and what it might look like seriously, and not necessarily be a complete ALIEN rip-off like the other trailers and especially poster would have you believe. Also, sick RE-ANIMATOR reference, bro.
Anyway, LIFE will come alive in theaters March 24, 2017.
