There is no stopping The Mouse when Disney smells money in something. They knew there was a load to come out of Marvel, so they pressed on in a major way. They knew STAR WARS was a goldmine, so they brought it back. Now they also know that FROZEN is a gravy train that needs not to be derailed. Plans for a FROZEN 2 have been announced, but, with no release date set to know how in sight that sequel may be, they have to fill the void with other things FROZEN to keep the demand for the brand high.
That’s why yesterday Disney made the official announcement that FROZEN would be coming to Broadway, claiming a Spring 2018 premiere will be happening after a Summer 2017 engagement takes place away from the Great White Way that should get it ready for primetime.

In addition, during the company’s Q1 2016 conference earnings call, Tom Staggs, Disney Chief Operating Officer announced that a FROZEN television special was in the works, scheduled to air later this year during the holiday season.
All of this is in addition to what Disney is doing down in Orlando at EPCOT, retooling their Norway Pavillion in the World Showcase to be heavily FROZEN. Plus, there’s a new stage show hitting Disney’s California Adventure that will be FROZEN. So, while FROZEN 2 develops at its own pace, Disney is not going to “let it go” when it comes to keeping awareness of the franchise in the meantime. (See what I did there?)
