Like a lot of people my age, BEETLEJUICE was a formative film for them. It was one of the first "horror" things I remember watching (and enjoying) as a kid, and it made me a Tim Burton fan for life (though the last decade or so has definitely tested that fandom…) Regardless, BEETLEJUICE still holds up extremely well (and is honestly much darker and more subversive than people give it credit for).
Which is why I'm certainly excited for the upcoming 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray box set for the film! No word on special features at this time, unfortunately, but you can still see below that it's a beautifully-crafted set, with some recreations of props from the film, such as the "Handbook for the Recently Deceased" book and the "Betelgeuse's [sic] exorcism" newspaper ad:
Anyway, for those of you who somehow aren't aware, here's the official synopsis:
After Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes (Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones) and teen daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a rambunctious spirit whose "help" quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.
Meanwhile, the box set will be available September 1st, but you can PRE-ORDER HERE, if you don't want to wait (or fear it'll get sold out).
So what do you guys think? Any other super fans of BEETLEJUICE out there? And if so, would you be down to get this box set? Either way, sound off below!
