Even though Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen/The Flash is set to make his DCEU appearance this November, comic book fans have been flocking to watch Grant Gustin’s take on THE FLASH show for a few years. Now, fans of sci-fi, comic books, and all general geekery have another reason to tune in every week as the show has just cast a notable BATTLESTAR GALACTICA alum in a major role for this fourth season.
EW got the exclusive that GALACTICA star Katee Sackhoff has joined the cast of FLASH as the villain Amunet Black, a.k.a Blacksmith. Making her first appearance in “Flash: Iron Heights” in 2001, Blacksmith is known for controlling an underground syndicate of criminals known as the Network and uses them to try and take over Central City and Keystone City. She also has the power to reshape metal and merge it with flesh, a power she attained by drinking the elixir of her former lover, Goldface.
Sackhoff will make her debut on the show in the fifth episode of the fourth season, “Girls Night Out,” which will also act as a crossover with another DC show, ARROW. Sackhoff has remained busy in her post-GALACTICA career, starring on shows like 24 and LONGMIRE, while doing movies such as RIDDICK with Vin Diesel and OCULUS with Karen Gillan (if you needed some ideas for a Sackhoff/Marvel-themed Six Degrees of Separation)
Not being very accustomed to the DC shows, I have no idea how Blacksmith will be incorporated into the FLASH universe, but I have seen her in several things and she has a truly strong presence as an actress. No wonder why fans wanted her for roles in movies like WONDER WOMAN and CAPTAIN MARVEL, and though this may not be a grand cinematic role like those this will certainly allow her to make a big impact in the television DC universe.
THE FLASH returns October 10.
