Batman V Superman on track for $350M global opening weekend plus new TV spot

The final box office tracking numbers are in for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, and the movie is eyeing a worldwide opening weekend of $350 million, with $150 million of that coming from U.S. theaters. If the MAN OF STEEL follow-up does hit those numbers, it would make it the second-best pre-summer and Easter debut ever behind FURIOUS 7's $397.7 million.

A recent report claimed that BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE needs to gross at least $800 million in order to just break even, so it would be off to a decent start if it does earn close to half of that in its first weekend.

But even if the film does end up underperforming slightly or doesn't reach the domestic box office heights of say, Marvel's THE AVENGERS ($623 million) or Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT ($534 million), it's not like Warner Bros. is just going to give up on the DCEU. And although it will be very interesting to see how much it will make in its sophomore outing, I have a feeling that the studio is going to have a big hit on their hands. In other BATMAN V SUPERMAN news, below you'll find the latest TV spot for the soon-to-be-released movie, which features some previously unseen footage.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will hit theaters this Friday.
