Fresh off the announcement that Warner Bros. is appointing Chantal Nong as the new VP Production of Warners’ DC film group, it's being said that BATGIRL and FLASHPOINT could be among the next to enter development for the comics-to-screen studio.
The rumor comes by way of a report from The Hollywood Reporter, who says that casting for WONDER WOMAN 2 is underway with the action-adventure sequel expected to begin filming quite soon. The move to announce some exciting DCEU titles comes shortly after Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE ultimately disappointed at the box office.
It's to be thought that The Flash's solo film, FLASHPOINT, will tell the iconic story of when Barry Allen enters an alternate reality, thereby changing the face of DC continuity as we know it. And while no details have been given in regard to the plot of Joss Whedon's BATGIRL, you can bet that it will feature Babs using her eidetic memory and seasoned crime fighting skills to bring a stylish beatdown to Gotham City's worst of the worst.
DC's next theatrical outing is scheduled for December 21st, when James Wan's AQUAMAN starring Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry takes the DCEU fandom by storm. After that, David F. Sandberg's SHAZAM! starring John Krasinski is expected to swoop into theaters on April 5, 2019.
With any luck, and a lot of hard work, Warner Bros. and DC can look forward to basking in an ocean of high praise, once their recon-jiggered slate of superhero films proves to fans that the studio's future is headed in a brave and bold new direction.
