I watched the first episode of Bates Motel this past week and most certainly took note of the lovely Nikola Peltz, the 18-year-old actress best known for her role in M. Night Shyamalan’s THE LAST AIRBENDER. It’s now been confirmed that Peltz will be joining co-stars Jack Reynor and Mark Wahlberg for Michael Bay‘s sequelish-reboot, TRANSFORMERS 4. Peltz and Reynor will be the boy/girl duo that replaces the love triangle of Shia LeBouf, Megan Fox, and Rosie Huntington-Whitely for the next iteration of autobots vs. decepticons, while Wahlberg is said to be an ex-special forces character, possibly the father of Peltz’s character.
In addition to the confirmation of Peltz, Bay also confirmed via Twitter that the film (or films, as this is said to be the first part of another trilogy) will be shot in 3D.

So, there’s that. My own feelings on TRANSFORMERS 4 are kind of “meh.” I don’t hate his TF films, as they’ve got a lot of pretty things to look at, but they aren’t top shelf, either. I’d much rather see Bay return to his THE ROCK and BAD BOY roots, or even continue down the path he’s taken with PAIN AND GAIN. I’ve seen enough robots smashing shit amongst awkward teen romance. But, it looks like we’ve got three more movie of it, so settle in kids.
Here’s some scant details from Bay on the story and direction:
TRANSFORMERS 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net. This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.
TRANSFORMERS 4 is set to roll out on June 27, 2014.
