That isn’t to say that scenes weren’t excised from the Cannes cut. Some things were cut but some things were added like this scene that Tarantino describes: “I’d shot another scene…where Fassbender meets The Basterds, before they go to La Louisiane. That’s back.”
If you read the script, you know there’s an extended sequence that shows how Donny Donowitz gets his trademark Nazi-beating baseball bat back in Boston but Tarantino says he didn’t edit it back in because he’s saving it for a prequel. “This and other scenes I shot, I’ll put in reserve. If I were to do a prequel, I can just use that stuff, it’s ready to go,” says Tarantino, though later adding, “Then again, I was going to do all these animated prequels to Kill Bill. I didn’t end up doing any of those.”
