Baskin director Can Evrenol begins filming Housewife this Friday

Turkish filmmaker Can Evrenol caught the attention of genre fans as soon as the insane, NSFW trailer for his feature directorial debut BASKIN emerged online last year. Evrenol still holds that attention as he heads into production on his second feature, even from viewers who weren't overly fond of BASKIN – Arrow in the Head's own Jake Dee gave the film a 5/10 review, but was still left feeling that "Can Evrenol has a great movie in him".

Evrenol's second feature is HOUSEWIFE, which has been described as being in the vein of ROSEMARY'S BABY and the works of Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci. Written by the director and his BASKIN co-writer Cem Ozuduru, it will tell the story of

Holly, whose mother murdered her sister and father when she was seven. 20 years later and slowly losing her grip on the difference between reality and nightmares, she runs into a celebrity psychic who claims that he is destined to help her.

The film, which is set to start filming in Istanbul this Friday, January 6th, will mark Evrenol's English language debut. A cast has not yet been announced, but several months ago David Sakurai was rumored to be in the running for the psychic role.

Evrenol has said that HOUSEWIFE will be delving into themes of "sexuality, family, social claustrophobia, and nightmares".

This all sounds pretty interesting to me, and I know there are a lot of horror fans out there who would love to see Evrenol deliver something along the lines of the Argento and Fulci classics while telling his story.
