Barbara preps for an oncoming monster attack in new I Kill Giants clip

Every time Anders Walter's I KILL GIANTS gets mentioned in the news, I become instantaneously flustered. Written by Joe Kelly with art by Ken Niimura, I Kill Giants is the story of Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe), a teenage girl who retreats into her own reality filled with monsters and mischief. With her trusty hammer, Koveleski, Barbara protects her home from a world of magical giants and titans. With the help of her new friend Sophia (Sydney Wade) and her school therapist (Zoe Saldana), Barbara soon discovers why the giants come for her, and that in the end, there is no escape. Originally published as a 7-issue mini-series the book has been collected on multiple ocassions and presented in gorgeous hardcover formats.

Full disclosure here, folks. I KILL GIANTS is my favorite indie comic-related story of all time. I only have one comic book-related tattoo on my body (I have at least 13 in general), and it depicts the header image that you see atop this article. It's a phenomenally good book, and I would recommend that anyone give it a read.

Today, Entertainment Weekly premiered an exclusive clip for the film that shows Barbara and Sophia out in the woods and on the hunt for giants. You can check it out using the player below:

Recently, when speaking with EW, Zoe Saldana stated that her character in the film is “trying to find a way inside the mind of this little girl, and trying to find a way to heal her, and help her with her affliction.” She then followed up by adding, "What I loved about this [project] is that, one, Anders is a really great director, and I really believed in his vision, and I think he has amazing potential to becoming a great director in cinema. And, two, it was an all-female cast. I loved the fact that I was supporting an independent movie that was being told through the eyes of a little girl.”

I KILL GIANTS is being produced by Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan, Kim Magnusson, Adrian Politowski, Nick Spicer, and Kyle Franke. And soon, the film will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9th. Words cannot describe how jealous I am of everyone who gets to see this movie before I do.
