Bad Boys For Life targeting $40M+ box office take over MLK holiday weekend

Early box office predictions for Sony's long-anticipated Will Smith and Martin Lawrence action sequel BAD BOYS FOR LIFE are in, and according to analysts, the return of the brotherly duo is poised to bank $40-45 million during its 4-day Martin Luther King holiday window. Word around the old water cooler is that BAD BOYS FOR LIFE cost a total of $90 million to produce, and that's before launching the film's ongoing promotional blitz. While $40-45 million sounds like a solid start, Sony is tempering their expectations for the sequel's debut, and anticipate making around $38 million to mark the awaited return of Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) and Mike Lowery (Smith) to the big screen.

In BAD BOYS FOR LIFE, the Miami PD and its elite AMMO teams attempt to take down Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio), head of a drug cartel. Armando is a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. He is committed to the work of the cartel and is dispatched by his mother to kill Mike (Smith). Meanwhile, Paola Nuñez (THE SON, RUNNER) will take on the role of Rita, a tough and funny criminal psychologist who is the newly appointed head of AMMO and Mike’s former girlfriend – the one who got away.

In addition to Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprising their roles as Agents Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett, respectively, Joe Pantoliano will also return as Captain Howard. The trio will then be joined by Vanessa Hudgens (SPRING BREAKERS, BEASTLY), Alexander Ludwig (VIKINGS, FINAL GIRLS), and Charles Melton (AMERICAN HORROR STORY, RIVERDALE), who will combine their talents to form an elite police unit that clashes with Lowery and Burnett's old school approach to fighting crime. Jacob Scipio (HUNTER KILLER, BOB THE BUILDER) will also star as Armando Armas.
