Inspired by his appreciation for The Slumber Party Massacre (watch it HERE) and Sorority House Massacre II, indie filmmaker Henrique Couto made a very cool slasher movie called Babysitter Massacre. A while back, he ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to turn Babysitter Massacre into a franchise, receiving enough contributions to fund three sequels. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic only one of those sequels has been able to make it into production. But that isn't stopping Couto from continuing to expand the franchise. He has announced that there is also going to be a series of Babysitter Massacre novels – and he made this announcement while revealing that the first novel is already available! Signed paperback copies can be purchased through his website Henflix.com for $12. For $20, you get the signed paperback and a PDF download.
Written by David O'Hanlon, the first novel in the series is titled Babysitter Massacre: Daddy's Little Killer. Here's the description:
A good babysitter is hard to find… especially when they’re all DEAD!
Larkin's first night with the babysitter’s club has her filling in for a friend that’s blowing off work for a hot date. The simple little lie will have dire consequences that trigger a series of unthinkable events and spurs a killer’s need for revenge!
With the bodies—and suspects—stacking up, the girls race to stop the killer and unearth the blood-stained secret behind the lunatic’s grisly murders.
Can Larkin unmask the Kohler Slasher or will she become another victim of DADDY’S LITTLE KILLER?
The novel's eye-catching cover, designed by Rich Long, can be seen below.
Couto says there's "a heavy dose of Fear Street" to Daddy's Little Killer, which is "as much in the vein of R.L. Stine as it is Jim Wynorski and Fred Olen Ray". Sounds good to me, and I think it's very cool that Couto is taking Babysitter Massacre in this direction, giving us a series of books in addition to the series of films.
