Avengers: Infinity War to be written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

In a decision that should come as no surprise, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR – PART I and PART II will be scripted by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the same duo behind CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. With CIVIL WAR being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, there will be a consistency between that film and the next major Marvel Cinematic event.

McFeely and Markus have a good standing with Marvel and also co-wrote THOR: THE DARK WORLD and created the ABC series Agent Carter. Kevin Feige released this statement about the news.

“Chris and Steve have been an integral part of the Marvel family since the early days of Phase 1, and their work speaks for itself. We couldn’t be more excited to have them with us to help guide the Avengers through their biggest story yet.”

With Joss Whedon departing from Marvel Studios, there is a need for talented writers and directors to shepherd Phase 3 of the MCU. The team of Russo/McFeely/Markus now represents the longest running creative squad at Marvel Studios with four shared films between them. What that means for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR remains to be seen, but I would venture to guess it is a good thing.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR – PART I is slated for release on May 4, 2018 and PART II on May 3, 2019.
