Avengers filmmakers to discuss The Evil Dead on Instagram film school show

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

For three weeks in a row, Joe and Anthony Russo – the sibling directing duo behind CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, and AVENGERS: ENDGAME – have been getting together to eat pizza and discuss a "movie of the week" for their Instagram TV show Russo Bros. Pizza Film School. On the first episode, they talked about the French drama LA HAINE, directed by Mathieu Kassovitz. The subject of the second show was the John Frankenheimer classic RONIN. With their third episode, which will go up on their Instagram page at noon (Pacific) today, May 29th, they're venturing into the horror genre to cover one of my all-time favorite films: Sam Raimi's THE EVIL DEAD.

Notifying their followers that THE EVIL DEAD is available to watch on Netflix, Vudu, iTunes, and Amazon Prime Video, the Russos warned that the film is "super scary and NSFW".

For this discussion, the Russos will be joined by Pete Hammond of Deadline Hollywood and screenwriter Christopher Markus, who collaborated with them on all of those CAPTAIN AMERICA and AVENGERS movies I mentioned.

THE EVIL DEAD stars Bruce Campbell in the role of Ash Williams, and shows what happens when

he, his girlfriend and three friends head to a cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway, only to discover a mysterious book known as the Necronomicon that awakens an evil in the woods, forcing them to fight for their souls.

I love the films the Russos have contributed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and THE EVIL DEAD has been one of my favorites for decades now, so I'm looking forward to finding out what the Russos and their guests have to say about Raimi's film while they chow down on some pizza.
