Update: Most people started their morning by waiting in a virtual line for those sweet, sweet AVENGERS: ENDGAME tickets, and it should come as no shock that before the day is even out the movie has demolished records held by some of the biggest movies ever made. In the case of Fandango, the ticket vendor released a statement revealing that ENDGAME has already crushed the record for the most pre-sale tickets sold in its first 24 hours of availability, and it did so in just six hours.
The record was previously held by STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, and Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis says this is unlike anything the service has ever seen.
“’Avengers: Endgame’ sales have exceeded all expectations and surpassed ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ the previous record-holder, to become Fandango’s top-selling title in its first 24 hours of sales, and it accomplished that feat in only 6 hours. We’ve never seen anything like this – it’s truly a groundbreaking accomplishment – as fans simply cannot wait to see how this epic saga comes to a close.”
Original Story:
Well, that didn’t take long.
Thanos may have wiped out half of all life in the universe with his mighty snap in INFINITY WAR, but you wouldn’t think that was true given how many people are swarming the internet to get their tickets for the follow-up, AVENGERS: ENDGAME. Tickets went on sale earlier this morning and moviegoers flooded the web faster and with more bloodlust in their eyes than parents getting Tickle Me Elmo dolls on Black Friday (dated reference much?). Already the movie is shattering pre-sale ticket records and causing serious traffic jams to sites like Fandango, AMC and Atom, so hopefully, you’re one of the brave few who was able to beat the rush.

Atom Tickets, in particular, saw incredible turnout on their site and put out a release revealing that ENDGAME has crushed the first-hour pre-sale record, selling more than three times as many tickets as the previous record holder, last year’s INFINITY WAR. Fandango has yet to announce any similar news, but chances that they’ve sold a similar amount as Atom are about as high as Thanos getting his ass kicked by some revenge-seeking Avengers in a few weeks.
People have wasted no time taking to Twitter to share their experiences trying to get tickets, and while some of you may have had an easier time getting them than others, some folks are experiencing wait times on an ungodly level.

Even AMC had to post a tweet notifying people that their site was down and hang on while they try to fix the chaos
We want everyone to be able to grab their Avengers: Endgame tickets, but it looks like we've gotten Thanos' snap. We're working on getting things back up and running, and in the meantime, please keep trying our website and our partner sites!

Luckily I was able to get a few tickets before the real rush started, but indeed, the showtime I'm going to (with over 500 seats) was sold out within an hour, so I am in no way surprised this sort of traffic is going down. But based on the hype for this movie can anyone say they're shocked? Half of the heroes in the MCU were wiped out in the last movie, so naturally, audiences are going to want to flock to the theaters to see how it all concludes. Hopefully, you got your tickets while the gettin' was good, and for those who haven't, we're sending thoughts and prayers.
AVENGERS: ENDGAME is in theaters April 26 and tickets are on sale now…if you can get them.
