Avengers: Endgame hits digital in July; Blu-ray, DVD coming in August

The biggest movie of the year, AVENGERS: ENDGAME, is returning to theaters this weekend, but if you can’t see yourself spending yet another $15-20 on a ticket then at least you’ll be happy to know you don’t need to wait that much longer to bring the superhero epic home.

Marvel announced this morning that the movie will be hitting the digital market on July 30 and that the Blu-ray and DVD release will follow two weeks later on August 13, and all will be packed with unmissable special features. Along with the announcement came an epic trailer featuring the most spoiler-y scenes in the whole movie, so if you *still* haven’t seen the movie and expect everyone to accommodate you, then maybe just turn back.

You can take a look at the cover art for the Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray as well, along with the entire list of special features that will come with the release. Anyone hoping for a making-of featurette that explores the filming of the massive epic (or even one about the whole of the MCU) will be left disappointed, but there are still some featurettes that explore Iron Man, and Captain America, two characters whose journeys came to an end here. We will also get to see six deleted scenes, which while not detailed, do have enticing titles.

Those who shell out early for the digital release will get exclusive access to a special featurette, “Steve and Peggy: One Last Dance” which explores the two characters’ bond and the movie’s heartwarming final moment.

Digital Exclusive:

  • Steve and Peggy: One Last Dance– Explore Captain America and Peggy Carter’s bond, forged in moments from previous films that lead to a momentous choice in “Avengers: Endgame.”

Blu-ray & Digital:

  • Remembering Stan Lee– Filmmakers and cast honor the great Stan Lee in a fond look back at his MCU movie cameos.
  • Setting The Tone: Casting Robert Downey Jr.– Hear the tale of how Robert Downey Jr. was cast as Tony Stark in the original “Iron Man” — and launched the MCU.
  • A Man Out of Time: Creating Captain America– Trace the evolution of Captain America with those who helped shape the look, feel and character of this compelling hero.
  • Black Widow: Whatever It Takes– Follow Black Widow’s journey both within and outside the Avengers, including the challenges she faced and overcame along the way.
  • The Russo Brothers: Journey to Endgame– See how Anthony and Joe Russo met the challenge of helming two of the biggest films in cinematic history … back-to-back!
  • The Women of the MCU– MCU women share what it was like to join forces for the first time in an epic battle scene — and be part of such a historic ensemble.
  • Bro Thor– His appearance has changed but his heroism remains! Go behind the scenes to see how Bro Thor was created.
  • Six Deleted Scenes– “Goji Berries,” “Bombs on Board,” “Suckiest Army in the Galaxy,” “You Used to Frickin’ Live Here,” “Tony and Howard” and “Avengers Take a Knee.”
  • Gag Reel– Laugh along with the cast in this epic collection of flubs, goofs and gaffes from set.
  • Visionary Intro– Intro by directors Joe and Anthony Russo.
  • Audio Commentary – Audio commentary by directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

So, are you all prepping your budget to add this beauty to your collection? I for one really want to see that extra featurette you get for buying the movie on digital, but I'm also a man who loves his physical media, so I'll most likely be grabbing that 4K when it comes out in August. Between the featurettes on Stan Lee and Downey and Evan's time in the MCU, I propose the Blu-rays should come with a free set of tissues.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME is on digital July 30 and on Blu-ray and DVD August 13.
