Anthony and Joe Russo's AVENGERS ENDGAME is basically the biggest movie of all-time. And as you might imagine, every producer in town is trying to snag the brothers to helm their film next. But what if that next film was a remake/reboot of the cult classic fantasy flick KRULL? Well, as crazy as it may sound, Joe Russo would make it in a heartbeat. Recently, Joe Russo was talking all things AVENGERS and ENDGAMES and said on the impact AVENGERS ENDGAME has had thus far:
It reminds me of the way we felt coming out of Star Wars or Empire Strikes Back, or like…Krull! Whatever it was that motivated us to pick up a camera, you feel that energy and want to pass it along.
Russo then joked about getting the call to direct a KRULL remake:
Done! Tomorrow. I'm in! I saw that movie four times in the theater.
Obviously, the man is kidding, right? I sure as hell hope not! Seeing these guys go from directing episodes of Arrested Development and Community to some of the biggest blockbusters of all-time and then helming a KRULL remake sounds all kinds of badass to this movie fan. Bring it on, Hollywood!
The film began:
On the planet of Krull, an evil creature called the Beast decimates the world's army and kidnaps the lovely Princess Lyssa (Lysette Anthony), who is destined to become queen. Her brave beau, Prince Colwyn (Ken Marshall), leads a motley band of warriors, including Ergo (David Battley) and Kegan (Liam Neeson), to rescue his beloved. However, before he can face the Beast, Colwyn must locate a mystical weapon known as the Glaive, which he can use to slay the hideous villain.
KRULL was directed by Peter Yates from a screenplay written by Stanford Sherman. Ron Silverman produced, and the flick starred Ken Marshall, Lysette Anthony, Freddie Jones, and Francesca Annis. If for some reason you don't already own the film on Blu-ray, you can snag a copy HERE.
