SPOILERS for AVENGERS 4. Even with AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR wiping quite a few beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe characters off the map, the upcoming AVENGERS 4 won't exactly be lacking in the cast department, and one actor who has previously appeared in the CAPTAIN AMERICA films said that they'll be returning for AVENGERS 4. We'll officially be entering spoiler territory now, so be warned.
Frank Grillo appeared in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR as Brock Rumlow, a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative who was revealed to be a Hydra agent and later became known as the terrorist Crossbones. CIVIL WAR found Crossbones shuffling off this mortal coil when he blew himself up in an effort to kill Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), but as we know, death isn't necessarily a sure thing in the comic-book world and it seems that Crossbones will be returning for AVENGERS 4. While speaking on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, Frank Grillo confirmed the news, saying that "he makes an appearance in the next Avengers movie," but added that it will be in the form of a flashback. The actor said that he's "allowed to say whatever I want because I'm never doing another Marvel movie," joking that it has to do with his age rather than Crossbones' fate; "I'm 117 years old," Grillo said.
Update: In a statement on Instagram, Frank Grillo called this fake news, saying that "In the course of a day i get asked 1000 questions about a character i played for 8 minutes. I’ve confirmed nothing. But sometimes i have fun w people who ask."
Given the time-travel rumours which have circled AVENGERS 4, it's also possible that the flashback which Crossbones will be appearing in could factor into that potential plot-line. AVENGERS 4 is set for a May 3, 2019 release.
