Looks like another classic fright flick is getting the remake treatment. This time it's THE HAUNTING director Robert Wise's 1977 adaptation of Frank De Felitta's novel AUDREY ROSE starring Anthony Hopkins. News of this Orion Pictures remake comes to us from a recent article over on THR which says Chloe Okuno has been tapped to rewrite and direct a new horror-thriller for A24 called BODIES, BODIES, BODIES (read more about that HERE).
Okuno will also pen this remake of the original film, which centered on:
Husband and wife Janice (Marsha Mason) and Bill Templeton (John Beck) lead a pleasant life, residing in New York and sending their daughter, Ivy (Susan Swift), to a good school. Things change, though, when the odd Elliot Hoover (Anthony Hopkins) arrives and tells the couple that, after having spent time in India, he believes Ivy is the reincarnated spirit of his daughter, who died years earlier. The Templetons scoff, but ensuing supernatural events soon turn their lives upside down.
Personally, I have to admit that I have never seen AUDREY ROSE, even though Robert Wise is one of my favorite directors of all-time. But my little brother did have a band named after the movie about ten years ago, give or take. So, you know, that's something… Is the flick worth checking out? Make sure to let me know by hitting us up below.
Robert Wise directed AUDREY ROSE from a screenplay written by Frank De Felitta based on his novel of the same name. De Felitta also produced the min-classic along with Joe Wizan. It starred Anthony Hopkins, Marsha Mason, John Beck, and Susan Swift. United Artists released the film into theaters back on April 6, 1977.
