Hulu has removed the Astroworld documentary, Astroworld: Concert From Hell, from its service amidst backlash and what the streamer is citing as “production confusion.” The documentary focuses on the horrific events that unfolded at Scott’s Astroworld concert event over the Fall, where 10 concertgoers, including a 9-year-old boy, died from injuries sustained at the event. Dozens of attendees have already filed lawsuits over the tragedy, claiming mental distress, injury, and other offenses.

As for the removal of the Astroworld documentary, Hulu says, “This was an investigative local news special from ABC13/KTRK-TV in Houston that originally aired on November 20th. This was not a Hulu documentary and has since been removed to avoid confusion,” a Hulu spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

Hulu cites the “production confusion” as their reason for pulling the documentary from its platform, though its removal may also be in response to a tremendous amount of social media backlash. Since the Astroworld documentary went live, several users on social media called into question whether airing a special about the tragedy so soon after its occurrence was in “poor taste.”

Scott’s Astroworld concert took place in Houston on November 5, with an estimated 50,000 fans in attendance. According to reports, organizers were woefully unprepared in the case of a crowd surge, which is precisely what happened. Once barriers were breached, and people without tickets had gained access to the show, all bets for safety and order were off. Lawsuits related to the concert are ongoing, with many still recovering from injuries or mourning the loss of loved ones.
