Ashton Kutcher hopes Danny Masterson is found innocent

Ashton Kutcher has come out saying he hopes his former That ‘70s Show co-star Danny Masterson will “be found innocent of the charges brought against him.” While not an open defense of Masterson per-se, it does show a clear sign of support.

Ashton Kutcher is certainly not dismissing the multiple claims themselves, admitting he truly can’t know what happened regarding the sexual assault allegations against Danny Masterson. “Ultimately, I can’t know…I’m not the judge. I’m not the jury. I’m not the DA. I’m not the victim. And I’m not the accused. And so, in that case, I don’t have a space to comment…I just don’t know.”

Ashton Kutcher also expressed remorse that Danny Masterson’s child would inevitably find out about the allegations via the internet. “Someday, his kid is going to read about this.”

In Esquire’s recent profile, Ashton Kutcher also tried to paint Danny Masterson in a good light. Kutcher–who played Kelso on That ‘70s Show–recalled Masterson being something of a leader within the group, telling the core cast–which also included Topher Grace, Wilmer Valderrama, Mila Kunis, and Laura Prepon–“One fucking rule: Don’t do anything fucking stupid and fuck this up. Because if you fuck it up, you fuck it up for everybody.” As it turns out, the only one Masteron messed it up for was himself. Masterson played Steven Hyde on That ‘70s Show, a character that was not featured on the recent revival, That ‘90s Show. In fact, the character isn’t even mentioned, although it has done fine enough without him.

Danny Masterson also co-starred with Ashton Kutcher on Netflix’s The Ranch, a show he was written out of after the allegations in question came forward. Allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse against Danny Masteron came about in 2017, with multiple women coming forward with claims. Some of these women were scientologists, with them also alleging the Church of Scientology–of which Masterson is a member–pressured them into staying hush about any situation that may have taken place. Masterston was eventually dropped by his agency. Danny Masteron’s trial began late last year, leading to a mistrial. A retrial is set for early this year.
