In 1987, writer/director Clive Barker introduced the world to the Cenobites – and inadvertently created a horror icon with the lead Cenobite, a character called Pinhead – in his film Hellraiser (watch it HERE). That film also gave us one of the most popular heroines of ’80s horror: Kirsty Cotton. Now, in the new episode of our video series WTF Happened to This Horror Celebrity? (formerly known as Where in the Horror Are They Now), we’re digging into the life and career of the horror celebrity who brought Kirsty Cotton to life, Ashley Laurence. Check it out in the embed above!
Since starring in Hellraiser, Laurence has gone on to work on several more genre projects, including Monsters, Mikey, Lurking Fear, Cupid, Warlock III: The End of Innocence, Red, and Creepshow. She also reprised the role of Kirsty Cotton in Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, and Hellraiser: Hellseeker.
Where in the Horror Are They Now was once an article series here on Arrow in the Head. The concept has been revived as a video series, and WTF Happened to This Horror Celebrity? will be going
in depth on the lives and careers of some of our favorite horror talents and also find out where they are now and what they are up to!
The Ashley Laurence episode was Written and Narrated by Jessica Dwyer and Edited by Will Hume. It was Produced by John Fallon and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Previous episodes of Where in the Horror Are They Now focused on Laurence’s fellow genre regulars Kane Hodder, Tony Todd, Heather Langenkamp, Elvira, Greg Nicotero, Doug Bradley, Zach Galligan, Barbara Crampton, and Brad Dourif. A few of those episodes can be viewed below. To see more, click over to the JoBlo Horror Originals YouTube channel – and subscribe while you’re there!
