For over twenty years after the release of Army of Darkness, the third entry in the Evil Dead franchise, it looked like Bruce Campbell might never play the character of Ash Williams again. There were rumors that franchise creator Sam Raimi wanted to make an Evil Dead 4, but it never seemed to go anywhere. Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash ended up being turned into a comic book instead of a movie. Raimi and Campbell produced an Evil Dead reboot that was directed by Fede Alvarez and didn’t have Campbell in the cast. Campbell did voice Ash for a few video games. Was that all we would ever get? But then, Raimi gave us something even better than an Evil Dead 4, bringing Campbell back as Ash in a blood-soaked television series called Ash vs. Evil Dead. The show ran for three glorious seasons before being cut short with cancellation – and that’s why it’s the focus of the latest episode of our video series Horror TV Shows We Miss. Check it out in the embed above!
Ash vs. Evil Dead had the following synopsis:
Ash, the aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter, has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal.
Campbell was joined in the cast by Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, Lucy Lawless, Jill Marie Jones, Arielle Carver-O’Neill, Ted Raimi, and Lee Majors.
The Horror TV Shows We Miss series is all about taking a
