Ash and Bone: Jamie Bernadette horror film to get theatrical release from Deskpop

Deskpop Entertainment, the company that recently released 13 Fanboy, a slasher tribute to the Friday the 13th franchise from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning‘s Deborah Voorhees, has now picked up the distribution rights to director Harley Wallen’s “raw and violent” urban legend thriller Ash and Bone. Deskpop has confirmed they’ll be giving Ash and Bone both a theatrical and home video release, but haven’t revealed the full release strategy or specific release date(s) yet.

We first heard about Ash and Bone about two and a half years ago, at which time Scout Taylor-Compton (Rob Zombie’s Halloween) was expected to be part of the cast. The role that was to be played by Taylor-Compton ended up being filled by Jamie Bernadette (Let’s Be Evil). Bernadette is joined in the cast by Mel Novak (Bruce Lee’s Game of Death), Angelina Danielle Cama (Abstruse), Kaiti Wallen (Agramon’s Gate), Jimmy Doom (Kill the Irishman), Erika Hoveland (Eternal Code), Mason Heidger (Batman v. Superman) and Harley Wallen (Tale of Tails).

The film was produced by Annette Cama of Cama Productions, Harley and Kaiti Wallen of Painted Creek Production, Joe Williamson of The Williamson Management Company, and Nancy Oeswein of Auburn Moon.

Written by Bret Miller, Ash and Bone has the following synopsis:

A troubled teenager is taken to the peace and quiet of the country side by her father and step mother in an effort to calm down her wild streak. But after she crosses the infamous McKinley family, it becomes clear that sometimes danger lies hidden in the weeds, ready to strike at any moment.

Wallen had this to say about the distribution deal:

It was really important to find the right distributor for Ash and Bone. I just really felt everyone really gave their best on both sides of the camera. I’ve seen it now at enough festivals and screening rooms to know we have a hit on our hands if it can get in front our audience!”

Deskpop’s Mat Levy said,

Ash and Bone gives horror fans exactly what they want from the very first shot. It is creepy, bloody and brings us all into a small town that no viewer will ever dare step foot into in real life. We are very proud to launch this spine-chilling film as one of the premiere titles for our new Desktop Entertainment label.”

We’ll let you know when Deskpop reveals more details on their Ash and Bone distribution plans. A poster for the film can be seen below:
