Arrow in the Head Gets a Sneak Peek at Halloween Horror Nights 2013!

It’s almost that time of year again, and I couldn’t be more excited. Yes, Halloween is only a couple months away and one of my favorite annual events by far is Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. Every year, Creative Director John Murdy thinks of exciting new ways to terrify those in attendance. Throughout the years he has managed to create some seriously spooky mazes as well as scare zones and from the looks of it, we are in for one spooky Halloween treat.

Last week we were given a sneak preview of what we can expect this year at HHN (you can check out the video coverage below). If you are looking for a brand new EVIL DEAD: BOOK OF THE DEAD or INSIDIOUS: INTO THE FURTHER maze, they’ve got you covered. If you’d like a little heavy metal horror, you can visit BLACK SABBATH’S 13 3D. And once again, the dead will walk among us with “The Walking Dead: No Safe Haven” maze. If that isn’t enough, for the first time ever attendees of the event will be able to wander the famed back-lot area where such famous monsters as THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and so many more were born in the early 1920’s. Of course during your stroll you will be fighting off more of the pesky Walking Dead so you’d better watch your step.

While on this little horror excursion, we were witness to some of the make-up effects that we will be seeing when Halloween Horror Nights opens to the public on September 20th – running on select nights until November 2nd. While getting this behind-the-scenes look I myself had the opportunity to sit in the make-up chair and get a little bloody. Afterwards we talked to Mr. Mundy as well as Extreme Horror make-up artist Larry Bones about what they have in store for the frightening festivities. With a heavy emphasis on zombies this year, there will certainly be some gruesome effects when this haunted park officially opens for business.
