Arnold Schwarzenegger talks Terminator: Genesis, plus rumored plot details

TERMINATOR: GENESIS is scheduled to start filming next month, and at the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio over the weekend, TheArnoldFans.com asked Arnold Schwarzenegger about the upcoming film. The site wanted to know what we should expect from the film.

We start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. We will be filming it in New Orleans with some of it in San Francisco and maybe a little of it in LA but most of it will be done in New Orleans. I'm really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn't be in that movie but now I'm back again and they are very excited about having me in the film. And David Ellison, who has produced all the big movies lately, has plenty of money to do it well. He's in partnership with Paramount Pictures who are going to release the movie through their distribution. I'm really looking forward to that and it's going to come out on July 4th weekend in 2015. The movie preparation is going well. The script is fantastic so I'm really looking forward to this film."

But what about the script makes it fantastic? TERMINATOR: GENESIS is suppose to be the start of a new stand-alone trilogy, but that's really all we know at this point. Moviehole.com hasn't read the script, however they've talked to someone who might know a thing or two about the new film. Their source isn't working on the film, but the site says they are a reputable source.

If Moviehole.com's source is correct, there could be some spoilers ahead, so you may want to avoid these possible plot details on TERMINATOR: GENESIS. You've been warned.

Firstly, we will indeed be revisiting the events of the original 1984 film again. The ‘Terminator’ from the future will arrive on earth, attack some punks (keen to see who they get to play ‘Bill Paxton’), and then slaughter his way through a bunch of Sarah Connors’ – until he finds the correct target. And all the characters that appeared in the Cameron original, like Detective Hal Vukovich (played by Lance Henriksen in the original), Lieutenant Ed Traxler (played by Paul Winfield way back when), Sarah’s roomie Ginger (Bess Motta in the ’84 film) and, yep, even Pugsley the Iguana, return. So, yep, we’ll likely get to see Schwarzenegger back in the leather jacket and cool sunglasses he wore in the original. And, of course, Kyle Reese (Courtney) volunteers to go back to 1984 and save Sarah – just as he did first time around. But don’t expect everything to work out like it did in the original.. something is going to play out different.

And then, we’ll also be taken back to the events of the sequel. The scene where the T-1000 (played by Robert Patrick in “Terminator 2 : Judgement Day”), posing as a cop, visiting John Connor’s home, where he meets – and consequently kills – foster parents Todd (Xander Berkeley) and Janelle (Jenette Goldstein), is in there. As are several other key moments.

And then we’ll be going back to moments we haven’t seen on film before – such as scenes with young Sarah and her parents.

Some have compared TERMINATOR: GENESIS to J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK reboot, however Moviehole.com says a better comparison might be BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II, meaning it will have an original plot, but will also revisit some memorable events from the original.

Does this mean something has happened in the past that will have a huge impact on future events in the films, like Sarah Connor not surviving this time? It's an interesting idea for TERMINATOR: GENESIS, and I think it could work, if any of this is true, of course.
