Armor Wars: Marvel hires Yassir Lester as Head Writer of Disney+ series

After the monumental success of shows like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, Marvel is all about making episodic content for Disney+. It’s been announced that the studio has tapped Yassir Lester to be the head writer of Armor Wars, starring Don Cheadle. Marvel is keeping plot details for the series close to its chest at this time. That said, it has been confirmed that Cheadle will reprise his role as James Rhodes for the show. It’s also been said that the show finds some of Tony Stark’s most dangerous technology falling into the wrong hands.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will produce the series, and the search for a director is currently underway.

As it turns out, Lester and Cheadle are already well-acquainted with one another. Lester serves as a lead writer on Cheadle’s Showtime series Black Monday. According to Marvel lore, Lester’s pitch for Armor Wars really excited Marvel executives as well as Cheadle himself.

Armor Wars is one of several projects Marvel has planned for Disney+, including the upcoming Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and Secret Invasion presentations. Each series stands to introduce new and powerful characters to the MCU, including characters like Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac), and many more! Some Marvel fans believe that the superhero studio is steadily building toward the establishment of the Young Avengers, a team of young heroes who together stand against evil in the MCU.
