Juicy details about celebrities who are alleged cannibals are tough to ignore, perhaps especially so if you’re the ex of that flesh-eating actor. Elizabeth Chambers, now separated from Armie Hammer, has revealed that she finally watched the Discovery+ documentary House of Hammer, although she certainly went in with a different perspective than the average viewer.
Elizabeth Chambers had no intention of actually watching House of Hammer, but she found herself one day doing so–with a support system by her side. “It was obviously heartbreaking on so many levels and very painful. But at the same time, it exists. The past is the past and all we can do is take this as a moment to learn and listen, and hopefully process and heal in every capacity.” Despite being married to Armie Hammer for a decade, she was “surprised” by much of the content of House of Hammer.
It’s a mature statement and shows true strength that Elizabeth Chambers could sit through the three-episode miniseries, which runs a little under as many hours. She did not partake in House of Hammer, despite being asked, so as to protect her children. “All that’s mattered and does matter is the kids and our family, and that was not something that was going to be in line with my goals for them.”
The documentary, which debuted earlier this month, examines not only Armie Hammer’s alleged history of abuse and rape, but also his great-grandfather Armand Hammer’s own traits of manipulation against family members.
According to its official plot synopsis, “the docuseries brings to light the dark secrets – ranging from accusations of violence and abuse to political manipulation and financial fraud – hidden within one of America’s most prominent families.”
