FREAKSHIFT, the next film from KILL LIST director Ben Wheatley, has been described by Wheatley as being about "women with shotguns fighting giant crabs", but while the focus is on the women there are going to be men in the cast as well. A male presence is evident from the fact that THE LONE RANGER himself Armie Hammer, who Wheatley just worked with on the action comedy FREE FIRE (which is in UK theatres now and will be playing in the US by the end of the month), has signed on to co-star in the film.
Alicia Vikander (EX MACHINA) takes the lead in FREAKSHIFT, which also has the following description:
A band of misfit cops hunt down and kill nocturnal underground monsters.
Hammer will be playing Vikander's love interest. The pair previously shared the screen in 2015's THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Wheatley wrote this "an all-guns-blazing action thriller" with Amy Jump and expects to be in production this August. I hope all goes well, because that "women with shotguns fighting giant crabs" description has landed FREAKSHIFT a spot on my "most anticipated" list.
