Disney seems dead-set on adapting all of their animated classics into live-action. Deadline has reported that Disney’s latest live-action adaptation will be of The Aristocats.
The original film revolved around a family of Parisian felines who discover that they’re set to inherit a fortune from their owner. But when a jealous butler kidnaps them and leaves them in the country, they must find their way back home with the help of a smooth talking tomcat. Are there any other kind? Will Gluck (Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway) and Keith Bunin (Onward) are set to pen the script for live-action adaptation of The Aristocats with Gluck also producing through his Olive Bridge Entertainment banner. The project is still in the very early stages of development and it’s not known if the film will find its home in theaters or on streaming. Sources told Deadline that the main characters would have a similar look to the live-action Lady in the Tramp movie that debuted on Disney+ in 2019.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re no doubt aware that Disney has been pumping out live-action adaptations of their movies pretty regularly. We’ve had The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, and a handful of others. The studio has even more live-action adaptations of their animated classics on the way, including The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, Lilo & Stitch, Hercules, and even Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which has Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) playing Snow White and Gal Gadot (Red Notice) playing the Evil Queen.
