Looks like Nickelodeon is reviving all kinds of their past hits such as ALL THAT and… wait for it… ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK! No, I'm not talking about the upcoming feature film from writer Gary Dauberman (IT) and director DJ Caruso (THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM). I'm talking about a small screen revamp of the original kid-horror anthology series. Specifically, THR says the new series will be:
A miniseries revival of Are You Afraid of the Dark?, timed to the October release of the Paramount feature film based on the series.
Personally, I'm more excited about this news than I was when we heard about the movie. I'll take all the ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? Paramount is willing to shell out. Bring it on, I say! Just remember to bring Ryan Gosling and Elisha Cuthbert back as well. I'm kidding?
We'll let you know as soon as we hear more. Until then, here's ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK's synopsis:
This kids anthology series recounts ghost stories told by the young members of the Midnight Society as they gather around a campfire. Each episode opens with members of the Midnight Society at their secret spot in the woods, where they prepare their fire and the night's storyteller announces the title of the his or her offering. However, the cameras soon leave the storyteller and switch to the tale being told.
Are you a fan of the Nickelodeon series? If so what do you think was the scariest episode? For me, it's "The Tale of Laughing in the Dark" with the runners-up being "The Tale of the Dead Man's Float", "The Tale of Old Man Corcoran" and "The Tale of the Midnight Madness" to name a few. What do you think? Let us know below! Then make sure to adjust your calendars as ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? now hits on October 4th, 2019.
