We got a look at Jason Momoa’s new suit for Aquaman 2 a few days ago, but he won’t be the only Atlantean sporting a new look in the sequel. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan took to Instagram to share a look at Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, and it’s safe to say he’s looking a little different.
“I found this guy stranded on a desert beach, doing his Cast Away impression,” James Wan wrote on Instagram. Wilson played the villainous King Orm in the first film, who just so happened to be the half-brother of Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa), but with the finale leaving the door open for Orm’s possible redemption, it should be interesting to see how Aquaman 2 handles him. Ocean Master definitely looks a little worse for wear, but will he be an ally to Aquaman this time around or out for vengeance?
In addition to Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will also star Amber Heard as Mera, Yahta Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manbta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, and Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus. James Wan has also previously stated that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be heavily inspired by an unlikely source – Mario Bava’s Planet of the Vampires. “Aquaman 2 is very heavily inspired by Planet of the Vampires,” Wan teased. “You can take the boy out of the horror but you can never take the horror out of the boy.“
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
