Aquaman 2: Dolph Lundgren says sequel will be even better than the first

I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I had an enormous amount of fun with Aquaman. The Warner Bros. film was bold and colourful, and it seems that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be amping everything up in true sequel fashion. Dolph Lundgren, who plays King Nereus, recently told THR that he believes Aquaman 2 will be even better than the first.

That whole picture is just a class act. Everybody from James Wan and Jason Momoa to Amber Heard and the producers. I think this one is better. I think the script is stronger and it’s more exciting.

Dolph Lundgren continued, “The technology has moved forward in four years, so I was really pleased to be a part of it. James Wan is just going to blow everybody away again by this tremendous world that he creates. He’s involved in every little detail, even every little piece of every weapon, and I think it’s going to be great.” I know, Dolph Lundgren isn’t about to come out and say Aquaman 2 sucks, but as a fan of the first, I want to believe the sequel will be even better.

In addition to Dolph Lundgren, Aquaman 2 will also star Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry. Director James Wan has also previously stated that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be heavily inspired by an unlikely source – Mario Bava’s Planet of the Vampires. “Aquaman 2 is very heavily inspired by Planet of the Vampires,” Wan teased. “You can take the boy out of the horror but you can never take the horror out of the boy.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
