A.P. Bio canceled after four seasons at Peacock

Class is dismissed over on A.P. Bio after four seasons. It has been announced that Peacock will not be seeking a fifth-season series starring Glenn Howerton. The first two seasons ran on NBC while the final two seasons were featured on the NBCU streaming service.

Series creator Mike O’Brien took to his Twitter page to reveal the news and it was soon confirmed by Peacock.

In a statement to “Deadline“, Peacock said of the cancellation, “We were honored to be able to give fans two more seasons of this beloved, quirky comedy. We’re grateful to creater Mike O’Brien for his out-of-the-box storytelling and for taking us on this journey with these characters at Whitlock High.” Peacock picked up the comedy series for season 3 after it was canceled by NBC in 2019 after two seasons. While the show had soft linear ratings, NBC pointed to its strong digital and online performance as a reason it could thrive over on Peacock. The series also had a pretty solid fanbase that the network felt would follow it over to the streaming service.

A.P. Bio followed Howerton as disgraced Harvard philosophy scholar Jack Griffin, who, after losing out on his dream job, is forced to return to Toledo, Ohio, and work as a high school Advanced Placement biology teacher. As he comes crashing in to Whitlock High School, Jack makes it absolutely clear he will not be teaching any biology. Realizing he has a room full of honor rolll students at his disposal, Jack decides to instead use the kids for his own benefit. The series also stars Patton Oswalt, Mary Sohn, Lyric Lewis, Jean Villepique, and Paula Pell.
