Antlers: Scott Cooper, Guillermo del Toro film gets new release date

Once set to receive a theatrical release on April 17, 2020, director Scott Cooper's horror film Antlers was removed from the release schedule due to the pandemic. Nearly one year later, Searchlight Pictures has finally announced a new release date for the film: Antlers is now set to reach theatres on October 29, 2021. Perfect for Halloween viewing.

Antlers was written by Nick Antosca and Henry Chaisson, with revisions by Cooper. Based on Antosca's short story The Quiet Boy, the film has the following synopsis:

In an isolated Oregon town, a middle-school teacher (Keri Russell) and her sheriff brother (Jesse Plemons) become embroiled with her enigmatic student (Jeremy T. Thomas) whose dark secrets lead to terrifying encounters with a legendary ancestral creature who came before them.

Graham Greene, Amy Madigan, Scott Haze, and Rory Cochrane are also in the cast.

Guillermo del Toro produced the film with J. Miles Dale and del Toro's Blade II collaborator David S. Goyer.

This film marks the horror debut for Cooper, whose previous credits include Crazy Heart, Out of the Furnance, Black Mass, and Hostiles. I'm looking forward to Antlers, and really hope the pandemic situation will be a lot better by October.
