It was inevitable, but after the commercial and critical success of last year's HALLOWEEN, it was revealed that we'll be getting not one, but two more HALLOWEEN sequels from David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. The two sequels, titled HALLOWEEN KILLS and HALLOWEEN ENDS, will be shot back-to-back with production expected to kick off this September.

Rumours swirled last month that another classic HALLOWEEN character, Tommy Doyle, might be back for the new sequels, and according to Variety, that rumour has been proven to be correct as Anthony Michael Hall will be stepping in to play the role in HALLOWEEN KILLS. No word on if he will carry over to HALLOWEEN ENDS as well, but that's assuming he survives the events of the first sequel. HALLOWEEN fans know Tommy Doyle as one of the young kids Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) babysat in the first film, but the character would go on to be featured in a larger role in HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS, where he was played by Paul Rudd. The original rumour stated that Blumhouse Productions had actually reached out to Rudd to reprise the role, but the actor's schedule proved too busy to allow him to take part. Jamie Lee Curtis will be back to reprise her role of Laurie Strode, and it's expected that Judy Greer and Andi Matichak will be back as well.

David Gordon Green has previously said that HALLOWEEN ENDS will bring their three-film arc involving Laurie Strode and Michael Myers to a conclusion. "They’re never done telling the Frankenstein story, and at this point, Michael Myers is a classic movie monster. But our Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode/Michael Myers saga will be done," Green said. "The fun of it is also seeing it end and knowing that it can. If you just keep trying to elongate it and milk it for all of the money, then that’s boring." Although their intention is to bring the horror franchise to a close, Danny McBride says that there's really only one person who actually put an end to HALLOWEEN, and that's John Carpenter. "I think, ultimately, Michael Myers is such an iconic character that no one besides Carpenter is ever gonna have ownership over him," McBride said. "This will be our chance at the table to play with these characters, and I’m sure that, when we’re done, other people will come in and do the same thing, or have their own reinvention. Michael Myers is iconic enough to allow that, too. He’s like James Bond, where you can have different actors and different filmmakers. He represents something so simple and scary that he can be translated by lots of different people."

HALLOWEEN KILLS is set for an October 16, 2020 release with HALLOWEEN ENDS hitting theaters on October 15, 2021.
