Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is already a massive hit in just its second weekend of performing. With that movie, phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe concludes. With this past phase, Marvel started to play with bigger concepts, such as multiverses. When next year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania kicks off the next phase, not only will we spend a lot more time in the quantum realm, but we’re getting an official introduction to the next universe threat on the level of Thanos.
Jonathan Majors, who plays Kang the Conqueror, was already introduced in the Disney+ series Loki as He Who Remains. However, it was revealed to be a variant and not the overarching villain we will come to know. We’ve already been given a tease of Kang in the trailer to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and now Empire has released a new image that give us a better look at the menacing character.
Peyton Reed, the director of the Ant-Man trilogy, has boasted about the effect the character will have, “I think it has a profound impact on the MCU. Jeff Loveness, who wrote this movie, is writing The Kang Dynasty as well, so there’s been a lot of discussion about the impact that this appearance of Kang The Conqueror makes. There are big things in store.”
Reed adds that those who are expecting the daffy portrayal of He Who Remains to be present in Kang will be happy to know that this version will be more serious and menacing as refers to him as an “all-timer antagonist.” “Kang The Conqueror in our movie is a very different character. He’s someone who has dominion over time, and he’s a warrior and a strategist. That’s interesting to me: to take the tiniest, and in some people’s minds weakest, Avenger, and put them up against this absolute force of nature.”
