Unfortunately I've gone through my life without playing, observing, or really understanding much at all about Dungeons & Dragons. My only exposure to the franchise comes from the much ridiculed feature film adaptation of the same name which starred Jeremy Irons on a steady diet of ham and scenery. Thankfully a new DUNGEONS & DRAGONS film from GOOSEBUMPS director Rob Letterman is in the works which should hopefully serve as a better translation of the game.
A star for the upcoming film may have already been found as Deadline is reporting that Ansel Elgort (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) is currently in early negotiations to star in the project. With the DIVERGENT franchise winding down, this could be the next big step for Elgort. David Leslie Johnson (THE CONJURING 2) penned the script for the film which Warner Bros. considers to be "top priority." As for Elgort, he recently completed work on Edgar Wright's BABY DRIVER in which he stars as "a talented, young getaway driver who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom." BABY DRIVER is set for a March 17, 2017 release.
