It always seems to happen this way, doesn’t it? Some network will announce that it’s developing a television show based on an unlikely property – say, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST or DRACULA – and then some other network will announce the same damn thing a few days or weeks later. Never appears as though the executives are asking themselves, Do we need one of these, let alone two?
That’s what’s going on now with Washington Irving’s THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW; a few weeks ago, it was revealed that 20th Century Fox is in the process of developing “Sleepy Hollow” with STAR TREK scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (with Len Wiseman attached to direct), and now we’re hearing that The CW is making its own “Sleepy Hollow.”
Not sure whether to scratch my head or yawn.
While we know that the Kurtzman/Orci “Sleepy Hollow” will be something of a police procedural-with-monsters ala “Grimm,” little has been uncovered about this one, although it’s supposedly a “boundary-pushing horror story for television.”
Patrick Macmanus and Grant Scharbo are co-writing the CW’s Sleepy Hollow, produced by Little Engine Prods. and Chatrone Prods. in association with Warner Bros. TV.
