Another military vs spooks flick on the horizon! Wild Bunch acquires sales rights

I love mixing things where they don’t belong and lately Hollywood’s been doing just that. From the outrageous SNAKES ON A PLANE move to the even more ridiculous POV/3D mashup that’ll induce many vomit filled projectiles, there’s no stopping the possibilities. Even though the idea of military personnel being stuck with a ghost among them isn’t new, the idea is relatively fresh and in this day and age a lot can be done with it.

Screen Daily reports on a new film currently in the works called THE SQUAD that offers up a full entree of military ass kicking and lots of paranormal creeping. Apparently it’s just like that too. It is said to be akin to BURIED mixed with PARANORMAL ACTIVITY (why is everything akin to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY now?) with a lot of suspense involved. There’s no word on the amount of firefight that’ll be involved but I doubt it’ll be anything similar to STORMHOUSE, its older brother, which pits brit soldiers against experimental ghosts.

In all this military/ghost craze, I’m actually pretty excited about these flicks. Now I’ll admit that I’m a sucker for F.E.A.R. games so it should be no surprise that I’ll get f*cking ecstatic at the idea of soldiers confronting the supernatural. It’s just so damn perfect!

Not only are we seeing the new film get some recognition but it seems Wild Bunch has acquired the sales rights to THE SQUAD. It’s being said that THE SQUAD is already creating a nice wave of buzz as more and more people throughout the net are starting to get revved up about the project. There isn’t a bunch of details to go on right so all we know now is that the flick will be set on a desolate military base. This will be the feature film debut of Jaime Mario Osorio Marquez. The film stars Juan Pablo Barragan, Nelson Camayo, Alexandra Aguilar, Andres Torres and Andres Castaneda. Stick with us as we’ll report on oncoming news regarding the new flick. A promo reel will be released soon so you won’t have to hold your breath for too long.

I wonder if they’ll ever need this trooper.
