Annette Bening is in talks to join the cast of Captain Marvel

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

According to The Hollywood Reporter, four-time Oscar nominated actress Annette Bening is in talks to fly higher, further, faster and more as a cast member of CAPTAIN MARVEL. The first female-led Marvel Studios action film directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will mark Bening's comic-to-screen debut, and will see the illustrious star joining Brie Larson,  Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace in an adventure of cosmic magnitude.

When CAPTAIN MARVEL arrives on March 8, 2019, Brie Larson will lead the charge as Air Force pilot Carol Danvers, whose DNA fuses with that of an alien, sending her headlong into an intergalactic escapade. SPOILER ALERT: The character was teased at the end of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, leaving many fans to question how Danvers' solo debut will take place in the 1990s.

For the moment, no details as to who Bening will play have been revealed, though THR has it on good authority that she'll appear as a scientist of sorts. My thought is that she'll be the one to help Carol hone her new set of Kree-infused, photonic powers. Oh, or perhaps Bening will play Helen Cobb, Carol's close and trusted friend. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

CAPTAIN MARVEL will arrive to dominate the box office (as well as my still-beating heart) on March 8, 2019.
