Annabeth Gish of The X-Files joins Manson film Charlie Says

Over the last thirty years, actress Annabeth Gish has earned credits on more than eighty projects, and while I'm most familiar with her from her smaller role in the 1996 film BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, she may be best known in general for her role as Monica Reyes on The X-Files.

It has now been revealed (by Tracking-Board) that Gish is the latest cast member to join AMERICAN PSYCHO director Mary Harron's Manson Family film CHARLIE SAYS.

Written by AMERICAN PSYCHO screenwriter Guinevere Turner, the film is based on the books The Family by Ed Sanders and The Long Prison Journey of Leslie van Houten: Life Beyond the Cult by Karlene Faith. The story centers on 

grad student Karlene Faith as she works with three brainwashed young women who were part of the Manson family — Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel and Susan Atkins. The story will be told via a series of flashbacks after the three women are incarcerated in a special security unit at the California Institute for Women.

The Walking Dead's Merritt Wever stars as Faith. Also in the cast are Odessa Young, Carla Gugino, Kayli Carter, Chace Crawford as Tex Watson, Hannah Murray as Leslie Van Houten, Sosie Bacon as Patricia Krenwinkel, Marianne Rendon as Susan Atkins, Suki Waterhouse as Mary Brunner, and former Doctor Who Matt Smith as Charles Manson.

Gish will be playing Virginia Carlson, head of the California Institute for Women.

Among Gish's other credits are MYSTIC PIZZA, WYATT EARP, THE LAST SUPPER, The West Wing, Sons of Anarchy, Pretty Little Liars, and a movie I saw on cable quite often when I was a kid – the Jon Cryer vehicle HIDING OUT.
