Guy Ritchie's first film in a planned six-film franchise (good luck with that) began filming a week ago but it looks as though there are still parts to cast for KNIGHTS OF THE ROUNDTABLE: KING ARTHUR.
Deadline is reporting that Annabelle Wallis has signed onto the film where she will be filling the role of Maid Maggie. Currently the known cast includes Charlie Hunnam as Arthur Pendragon, Astrid Berger Frisby as Guinevere, Eric Bana as Arthur’s father, Jude Law as Vortigern, Djimon Hounsou as Bedivere, Aiden Gillen as Goosefat Bill and Mikael Persbrandt in an unknown role.
The bold new story introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londinium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur—and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King.
Annabelle Wallis found herself in a starring role in last year's ANNABELLE, but personally I'm more familiar with her roles on the small screen; particularly her work on BBC's excellent series Peaky Blinders. I'd recommend checking it out if you haven't.
KNIGHTS OF THE ROUNDTABLE: KING ARTHUR is slated to hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
