Anna Faris hasn’t been in the spotlight much over the past few years, but now that she has had time to reflect and relax outside of the business, she feels she is ready to be active once again, even getting some new characters out there.
In a recent interview with People, Anna Faris said, “I kind of took my foot off the gas and I spent a lot of time with my son. It felt really good…It wasn’t conscious, but sort of a sabbatical, I guess…It felt great.” During her apparently much-needed time off, Faris couldn’t help but still have some ideas gestate in her head. “And now, what also feels great is that all of the projects and the characters that I’ve been sort of subconsciously kicking around, feel like they’re slowly kind of starting to sprout…And I feel really proactive, which feels great.”
The proactivity will be a bit slow, it seems, as Anna Faris’ next project is a commercial for Avocados from Mexico, which will be featured during Super Bowl LVII on February 12th. Her most recent movie was the limitedly released dark comedy The Estate. Prior to that was a remake of Overboard, which saw her essentially taking the Kurt Russell role, as the genders were swapped for the 2018 version.
Anna Faris began her so-called sabbatical when many others were also forced to: the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic. In a surprise move, Faris even left her hit CBS sitcom Mom–in which she played daughter to Allison Janney–after the seventh season, leaving the show’s eighth and final season without Christy Plunkett.
Anna Faris also has a podcast called Unqualified, which “explores the lives and careers of actors, authors, designers, artists, musicians, chefs, athletes and relatives through thought-provoking questions, fun games, and wild tangents. Anna and a celebrity or expert guest then talk with you, her listeners, and offer their insight on how to navigate relationships and other confounding topics.”
