Thirty years ago, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn starred together in OVERBOARD, in which a wealthy, spoiled heiress (Hawn) cheated over a carpenter (Russell) by hiring him for a job and refusing to pay. When she fell off the deck of her yacht and wound up in a hospital suffering from amnesia, the carpenter used it as an excuse to get even by convincing her that she was his wife and introduced her to the working-class life. The upcoming remake tells pretty much the same story, but reverses the genders, with Anna Faris playing a single, working-class mom and Eugenio Derbez taking on the spoiled playboy role. What a time to be alive.
Unfortunately, despite my love for Anna Faris, the recently released trailer for her OVERBOARD remake is a little short on humour. They certainly give it a go, but there's not a lot that lands. In addition to Faris and Derbez, OVERBOARD also stars Eva Longoria, John Hannah, and Swoosie Kurtz.
OVERBOARD will hit theaters on April 20, 2018.
